Skinny Dip
UV films, dimensions variable, 2018
In the project ''Skinny Dip'' we look at climate-control systems that shape how we experience weather and encapsulate our fears. We are inspired by lifestyle products such as polarized window tints, outdoor gear, SPF sunblocks, and UV filters that visualize the harm that cannot be seen or felt. For the ''Skinny Dip'' installation, we apply a composition of car window tints on the exhibition space windows. We are interested in the use of polarized filters for their qualities such as reduction of glare and opacity that alters our perception. Observing the cityscape through the collage of polarized UV protection, we reflect on our shifted relationship with nature and propose a perspective inspired by the constant daylight beating down on the natural and engineered environments.
